Rachael has 14 years experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist in a pediatric emergency room and with inpatient's in a children's hospital. She extends her skill set into the community through her private practice, Rachael C.A.R.E.S.
Families journey through life and find themselves in unexpected and complicated situations. We do not innately know how to cope with illness, hospitalizations, trauma, and death. Rachael has a background in child development with a Bachelor's of Science in Family and Child Studies. She is trained and ready to support your family!
As a CCLS, Rachael provides psychosocial support to families in a variety of ways. Preparation for medical events and procedures, education, therapeutic play interventions, funeral support, and school re-entry after long time illnesses are her specialities.
Children, Adolescents, Parents, Grandparents, Caregivers
Rachael provides services to children and families living on the north shore, and surrounding areas, as well as phone consultations for clients outside of the area.
The services are broken down into three components
1. Consultation with the caregivers (phone or face to face)
2. Observation of the child in their home environment
3. Direct Interventions (60 minutes, with the last 15 minutes debriefing with parents)
The first twenty minutes of the consultation is free and then will be prorated at the hourly rate. At this time Rachael doesn't accept insurance, but she is always willing to slide her scale to work with your family’s financial needs.
